AmeriCorps with St. Rose Outreach and Recovery
We are very fortunate to have AmeriCorps positions available through our partnerships with West Seneca Gulf Coast Recovery Corps and Hands On Gulf Coast. Depending on when a person applies, the intended duration of stay, and the specific job for which he or she is applying, we will direct that applicant to either West Seneca or Hands On Gulf Coast.
Our AmeriCorps members work in Hancock County, physically rebuilding homes, removing debris, and helping this area recover from the devastation of Katrina. Most members serve as project leaders for small groups of volunteers, although we have other needs as well: organizing the tool room, managing our unskilled labor, making sure we have enough work from day to day, or otherwise assisting in our daily operation.
Our single biggest need is for construction team leaders, and we are currently recruiting individuals with experience in all aspects of construction. If you have construction experience, you're interested in learning more about construction, and you want to lead teams of 5-8 volunteers at a time, please fill out the questionnaire below.
If you do not have extensive experience in construction, but feel you would be a valuable to our recovery effort, please let us know how you can help. We are looking for hard-working, team players who are willing to both take direction and lead others.
We have 2, 3, 6, and 12 month positions available. We provide communal housing and meals. In addition, members receive a bi-weekly stipend, health insurance, are eligible for student loan forbearance, and an educational award at the completion of their term.
